A Green Company
Griffin Industries has been a leader in the recycling, reclaiming, and transforming of unwanted materials into usable goods since 1943 - long before environmental mandates and related corporate directives.
Griffin collects billions of pounds of animal and food by-products annually and recycles nearly 100% of it into essential products such as animal feeds, alternative fuels and organic fertilizers. Our products also become ingredients in consumer and industrial goods such as soaps, gelatins, cosmetics, paints, plastics and rubber.
At Griffin, “green” is not just our business; it's our way of life.
- Our new corporate office building was designed and built to be environmentally friendly, efficient and sustainable and is LEED certified.

- Griffin employees play an active role in environmental issues. Each plant is involved in outreach and education efforts within their local community, sharing ideas and successful practices for sound environmental stewardship.
- Waste packaging fuels operations at our Bakery Feeds® plants, diverting thousands of tons of waste material from landfills every year.
- We believe in our own products and apply our environmental convictions on a daily basis. Nature Safe® Natural & Organic Fertilizers are used on all our green spaces and we burn Fat For Fuel® in our boilers. When you see a Griffin truck, it's likely fueled by Bio G-3000™ Premium Biodiesel Fuel.
Environmental Certifications
All of Griffin's and Bakery Feeds' production facilities as well as the corporate headquarters are certified through Audubon International's Cooperative Sanctuary System. These operations have a positive impact on wildlife habitat and water quality, protecting our environment and conserving precious resources. Griffin is the only company in the rendering industry to achieve certification through this program. With thousands of acres of Audubon-certified property, Griffin is recognized as a model of environmental stewardship excellence and a leader in responsible resource management.
Many of Griffin's Bakery Feeds operations are also qualified as Biomass Conversion Facilities, as designated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). USDA's Farm Service Agency certifies their ability to convert biomass to renewable energy as part of the Biomass Crop Assistance Program.
100% Renewable Products
Griffin converts unwanted, unused waste materials into high-quality environmentally friendly solutions. Everything Griffin produces can be considered “renewable.” Griffin's product line includes:
Proteins and Fats
Rendering is the recycling of biological resources and bioenergy. The process involves the extraction of moisture from inedible agricultural by-products, resulting in two primary product streams: protein and fat.
Proteins are the cornerstone of livestock nutrition. Griffin's protein meals are used in the poultry, swine, dairy and aquaculture industries as well as in quality pet foods around the globe.
The oil, fat and grease obtained through the Griffin rendering process and collected from food service operations throughout our service area is used in many agricultural, industrial and consumer products. Learn more .
Bio G-3000™ Premium Biodiesel Fuel
